Patriots vs Saints Fantasy Football Preview

Week 3 of fantasy football is here! This week had a dominate TNF showing by the Panthers vs the Texans. Other matchups include Football Team vs Bills, Dolphins vs Raiders, Buccaneers vs Rams and MNF Cowboys vs Eagles. This article however will focus on a fantasy football preview of Patriots vs Saints.

Must Start

James White RB Patriots

James White inactive after father killed in car crash, mother critically injured - DraftKings Nation

James White is once again proving that he is the Patriots receiving RB. Which if you are in a PPR league ends up being valuable. In both games week 1 and 2 he caught 6 receptions for 49 and 45 yards. In week 2 we saw White also rushing for a TD. Against this Saints defense at home he becomes a great weapon to have because he can do it all. Look for him to be productive yet again. He was a nice late addition in some drafts, and if you have him he is worth the Flex spot. For me personally he has been playing well enough to earn an RB #2 spot. This week I see another consistent receiving performance but also tacking on a receiving TD. My prediction he has around a 15 point fantasy game and ends up a top 20 RB.

Others to Consider

Alvin Kamara

This week's challenge for the Patriots defense: explosive Saints back Alvin Kamara - The Boston Globe

This one may seem like a no brainer because if you have Kamara obviously you are going to start him. But why he is on the others to consider section instead of must play was his performance against the Panthers only produced him 7 fantasy points. People may start to wonder will his productivity slow down? In my personal opinion I think not. I believe he just struggled against the current #1 defense this season the Panthers. Although the Patriots defense will also be a tough task look for Kamara to bounce back. He will produce a TD and have at least 10 rushing attempts at the ball this week. Last week he only had 8 rushing attempts for 5 yards. His receiving abilities will also play a factor in this game similar to James White. Expect him to once again return to a top 15 RB.

Patriots D/ST

This defense just produced 16 fantasy points against the Jets. Now they return to Gillette Stadium for a home game of Patriots vs Saints. Their last showing at home in a loss against the Dolphins still produced this defense 7 points. But, personally I believe this Saints offense will allow for more opportunities for the Patriots defense. Last week we saw Winston get intercepted 5 times, although I do not expect that type of performance again expect 1 or 2 picks as well as a couple sacks this week. The Panthers put up 14 points against this team at their home. The Patriots defense will also have the crowd noise to help them this week. If you have them I would start them this week. I expect them to be in the top 5 defenses this week with at least 10 points.

Avoid

ANY SAINTS WR

Saints roster moves: Marquez Callaway returns, Tre'Quan Smith to I.R.

Lets be honest the Saints are hurting at WR. So much so they have activated WR Kenny Stills off their practice squad to more than likely fill the WR 3 position. This comes after a poor performance from multiple WR’s. Their current WR 1 and 2 have done poorly. Marquez Callaway has recorded 3 receptions for 22 yards and Deonte Harris did record a TD in week 1 but that was with only having 2 receptions that game, last week he saw 1 reception. I personally do not think Kenny Stills is going to be the answer coming into this week. I see this WR core hurting until Michael Thomas is off of the reserve PUP list. Which he is first eligible to return Oct. 25 against the Seahawks week 7. Moral of the story do not play any Saints WR this week, as this Patriots defense will be protecting well from any production.

Last Thoughts on Players

This game of Patriots vs Saints I do not expect much out of players. This is not a matchup where I would look to starting many people. There are better options at QB then Jameis Winston and Mac Jones. Neither team has a WR that wows me. At most I might play Meyers in a flex position. As far as TE goes I would not play either Saints TE, but might start Smith from the Patriots. Needless to say if you’re stuck fantasy wise the only relevant productivity I see coming out of this game are the RB’s and the Patriots DEF. Look to other teams for WR’s to stream or QB’s to start. As for who will be the winner of Patriots vs Saints, it will be low scoring but Patriots will get the win.
