The Boston Red Sox have been getting contributions from so many different players as of late. Jonathan Araúz and Jack López have been two players holding down the fort in the infield for the Sox.
With COVID-19 sweeping through the Red Sox clubhouse, the team has been interchanging players daily. There is seemingly a new face everyday whether they’re coming from Worcester or from the waiver wire.
Chaim Bloom has been adding significant depth to the organization since taking the job. Both Araúz and López have been positive additions for the WooSox and now the big league club.
Jack López is living out his dream between the Olympics and now with the Red Sox
The Red Sox are 4-0 with Araúz and López as their double play tandem. During their four game run as the Sox double play duo, they have turned five double plays.

Lopez earned his first big league hit on Friday night against the Indians. The 28-year-old ripped a double in the second inning and then did the Sox wave into the dugout following the hit.

López has earned a Silver Medal during the Olympics this past year and now his first major league hit. “They’re both in my luggage stored away,” the Red Sox infielder said on Saturday.
The Red Sox have valued the way López conducts himself on and off the field. Prior to the club signing Marwin Gonzalez in the offseason, Lopez was figured to be a candidate to make the big league roster. Now the minor league veteran is in Boston holding his own until Xander Bogaerts, Christian Arroyo and Kiké Hernández can come back.
“I’ve just got to go out and hold the spot for when the big dogs come back,” said Lopez to reporters.
Jonathan Araúz has done the little things to contribute
Araúz has injected life to the Sox as well. The 23-year-old provided heroics last week in Cleveland. He would hit a three-run home run off of Indians reliever James Karinchak that ultimately gave the Sox the win.
In addition on Saturday, Araúz provided a huge bunt to move the Taylor Motter over to second base. Motter pinch ran for Travis Shaw who led the inning off with an infield single.

Jonathan Araúz and Jack López making an impact
Cora bunted three times with the bottom of his order, twice with Araúz and once with López on Saturday. The two players have helped the Sox play small ball and try and manufacture runs.
“We can’t just sit back and let the boys do their thing. We have to put pressure on the defense and we have to maximize the top of the order,” he said. “We’ve bunted five of six times in the past couple of days. That’s part of who we are right now,” said Cora.
Red Sox fans will be happy to see the club get to full strengths soon. While Boston would like to have Bogaerts and company back in the lineup, others like Araúz and López have filled in nicely.
“Would I imagine that I would have gotten my call-up in the middle of a pennant race? No. But here I am. And I’m just a little grain of sand here and going to help the team in whichever way I can to help them win,” said López. “I’m just living the childhood dream.”
Jonathan Araúz and Jack López living out their dreams
Araúz and López’ time with the club is running short, but both players have stepped in and made positive contributions for the Sox. The duo has played stellar defense and have made small ball contributions at the plate.
The organizational depth that Bloom preached when he took over has paid off huge. For Araúz and López, they’re just living out their dreams in the middle of a pennant race.
