WWE changes the NXT logo and it’s heinous
The WWE announced that NXT would be getting revamped and that the brand will be run and shown differently. WWE President Nick Khan announced that the brand would have a new philosophy very soon.
The WWE has released the new logo for NXT and they’re completely going away from the black and gold look. NXT’s new logo looks like it’s a water paint activity sheet with its psychedelic colors.

I understand that the look of the show shouldn’t detract from the talent in the squared circle. The WWE could have changed the philosophy of the brand without changing the look and feel of what made NXT special in the first place.
NXT was a fresh alternative to Raw and Smackdown. The darker look made the brand stand out with different talent and storylines. The feel of NXT made the show enjoyable and gave it an edgier presentation. Sometimes the show was too dark but repositioning the lighting or even another spotlight could have helped fix that issue.
Instead the logo looks childish and makes you wonder what exactly WWE is thinking?
NXT officials reportedly had no input on the logo change
It was also reported by Dave Meltzer that the logo change was handled by the upper levels of WWE management. That there was no input from NXT officials.
“The new logo came from WWE with no input from the NXT people and it’s when it comes to the future of NXT and its rebranding, it’s said the people making the decision, on their own, are the likes of Vince McMahon, Nick Khan, John Laurinaitis, Kevin Dunn and Bruce Prichard.”
Former WWE manager Jim Cornette commented on the logo change, “Yes, they do need a little lighting in the arena, we’ve said that. But on the logo? It looks like a Rorschach test. I don’t think they needed to change the entire logo and the look of the show as much as they need to change the talent that feature on it. Pep it up a little bit and throw an extra spotlight or two over the ring.”
Vince McMahon to takeover the revamped NXT?
Now Vince McMahon has decided that he needs to be fully involved with the product. McMahon having more of say and input other than Triple H is upsetting. Triple H helped build NXT from the ground up, he took it from a game show to a legit brand.
According to the website Fightful, the rumor of McMahon taking over NXT is false and the company stated “don’t believe everything you hear.”
At the end of the day the logo doesn’t dictate the storytelling and the matches. If NXT stays true to their roots of building developing talented superstars and storylines the WWE Universe will deal with the logo change.
Conclusion
My fear is the logo change is just the beginning. Hopefully the company doesn’t cut more talent from the roster especially talented established stars. The budget cuts are becoming AEW’s gain and pipeline to building their impressive roster.
It’s also possible that the WWE has seen how AEW is utilizing AEW Dark and building future stars and the new change in philosophy will better align them in the future.
Forget the AEW and NXT Wednesday Night War battles, the WWE feels like they’ve lost their way. It genuinely feels like the WWE under estimated AEW and their ability to put on wrestling program. Now McMahon and company are reacting versus being proactive in changing their approach.
Changing the NXT logo doesn’t take away from the fact the WWE has done a poor job creating new superstars. In addition, the WWE struggles to build superstars that are relatable and that fans can care about. AEW wins every week because their bottom of the card is entertaining and fans can invest in those stars. The WWE recycles matches continuously and uses cheesy graphics to make up for their poor content.
The WWE had something special with NXT and they are slowing killing the brand, one make over at a time.
