A look at the Red Sox week ahead

As it currently stands, the Boston Red Sox find themselves with a 79-60 record. That is good for the second wild card spot in the American League. They pulled off an impressive split at the Trop against the Rays followed by a series win at Fenway against the Cleveland Indians. Now, the Red Sox find themselves in a post-season push. So with that being said, let’s look at the Red Sox week ahead!

9/6-9/8: vs. Tampa Bay Rays

The Red Sox open up an important three game series against the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park. No, it isn’t because the Red Sox are chasing the division. Let’s get that out of our heads for good this season Red Sox fans! But instead, we’re gearing for the Wild Card spot. Not going to lie here, I love the Red Sox starting pitching this series. Chris Sale gets the ball on Labor Day opposing Ryan Yarbrough of the Rays. Tuesday night, the Red Sox send out Eduardo Rodriguez against the Rays Drew Rasmussen. In the series finale Wednesday night, Nathan Eovaldi will go against Shane McClanahan.

I love the three headed monster of Chris Sale, Eduardo Rodriguez and Nathan Eovaldi. These are the three best pitchers for the Red Sox right now. Honestly, with the way the Red Sox hit at home; this should be a series win. Especially with the Red Sox getting reinforcements back from the COVID-list!

Series Prediction: Red Sox win 2 out of 3

9/10-9/12: @ Chicago White Sox

After the Rays series, the week ahead has the Red Sox traveling to the windy city to take on the Chicago White Sox. This series will probably feature a combination of Tanner Houck, Nick Pivetta (assuming he’s off the COVID list too!), and Sale in the finale. The Red Sox on the road are a lot different than they are at home, especially with their bats. But if the reinforcements come like they should, I wouldn’t put it past the Red Sox to surprise a lot of people in this series. I like the White Sox, but they are very inconsistent this year; especially against the poor teams of the American League.

Series Prediction: Red Sox win 2 out of 3

In Conclusion

There’s your Red Sox week ahead! Hopefully, the local nine come away with a 4-2 record this week. The Rays are always going to be tough, at least this season. Then you have the White Sox, a team that a lot of people thought were World Series favorites before the season started. So let’s see what these Red Sox have in them and let’s enjoy the postseason push!
