The Patriots season is going to be a roller coaster all year long
It seems like every week now, something new comes out of Foxboro. It keeps everyone on the edge of their seats! What a week it was for the New England Patriots. No Cam Newton the start the week due to COVID protocols, leaving the biggest opportunity for rookie, Mac Jones. The rookie took advantage of the opportunity. He was absolutely sensational at joint practice against the New York Giants on Wednesday, making the storyline going into week one just more sweeter.
However, when Newton returned on Thursday, he was back taking snaps with the first team, raising eyebrows once again from the media. It does seem like a little dysfunctional. Your potential starting quarterback is “misunderstanding” the protocols. This then leads to Cam having to miss valuable time as the team gets ready to kickoff the season in two weeks.
It is now obvious that Newton has decided not to take the COVID-19 Vaccine and that is his choice. However, if does decide to go down that route then he needs to stay within the protocols because the patient level from fans is really low. Cam Newton, 32, wants to show the league he still belongs and he won’t be beat out by a rookie. However, if he continues to miss time or anything that sets him back, he not only the team, he is hurting himself.
It seems like every week there is another story that is coming out of Foxboro. People from Boston are not use this intensity at the Quarterback position. To me, it brings excitement and keeps you on your toes. However, we all want to see the right choice happen that is going to lead this team to success this year. The New England Patriots are a playoff team, in my opinion, but the starting Quarterback needs to responsible and dedicated in order to make that happen, whether it is Cam Newton or Mac Jones.
