Mountain Dew is going to kick it up a notch next year. The Pepsi based product will join forces with Boston Beer Co., who is the maker of Truly Hard Seltzer. The two will create a Hard Mountain Dew or “HARD MTN DEW” that will hit the market in 2022.

The two companies will introduce three flavors to the new line of seltzers. Original, black cherry and watermelon will be the first three you can get your hands on, while the two companies are working on a fourth flavor.
The new “HARD MTN DEW” will feature the traditional 5% alcohol by volume. It will also not have any caffeine or sugar in their drinks.
Baja Blast the fourth flavor of Hard Mountain Dew?
When the announcement dropped that “HARD MTN DEW” was coming out next year it certainly piqued my interest. Admittedly I do not drink soda and I haven’t in about 15 years. However when I did drink soda, I really enjoyed Mountain Dew.
Mountain Dew has different flavors on the market right now. So naturally any Dew enthusiast will gravitate towards any of those flavors as the potential fourth coming out.
The one flavor I can imagine that could be part of the new variety pack is Baja Blast. It’s a Taco Bell fan favorite that came out in 2004. It was the first beverage exclusively sold only at the fast food chain.
Baja Blast is a flavor of Mountain Dew which is Teal in color. Its flavor is a Tropical Lime type of DEW flavor. The Baja Blast seltzer would fall right in line with the other tropical flavors other seltzer companies have come out with.
The collaboration seltzer fans have been waiting for?
Pepsi has joined forces with the right company to bring this new seltzer collaboration to life. Boston Beer first introduced Truly to the masses in 2016. This past year Truly launched a brand new variety pack with new flavors: fruit punch, berry punch, tropical punch and citrus punch.
“The combination of our experience in brewing and developing the best-tasting hard seltzers and hard teas, and MTN DEW, a one of kind multibillion dollar brand, will deliver the excitement and refreshment that drinkers know and love,” said Boston Beer CEO Dave Burwick.
Pepsi is also looking to double dip into the seltzer market with Rockstar Energy drinks as well. The company acquired Rockstar last year and aims to shift the energy drink into the seltzer game.
As an avid seltzer drinker looking for new brands and flavors to try, I’ll dabble with the new DEW. I’m incredibly curious as to how the original will taste all dolled up with alcohol. People are already comparing the new drink to Four Loco, I hope that’s not the case and Hard Mountain Dew can carve its own niche in the market.
