The Celtics need to pull off a Bradley Beal trade this off-season!
The second half of the NBA season officially kicked off for the Celtics last night with their game against the Nets. This Celtics team is easily one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now. They’ve won nine of their last ten games and look as though they’ve turned the corner. But obviously, I’m looking toward the off-season and at one specific name: Bradley Beal. Bradley Beal is done for the year after undergoing wrist surgery. His days in Washington aren’t looking very bright. So naturally, I’m thinking about a Bradley Beal trade to Boston. Here are the reasons why a Bradley Beal trade to the Celtics this off-season is a MUST!
The Celtics HAVE the Pieces to get Bradley Beal!
Believe it or not, the Celtics have pieces in place to get Bradley Beal.
The first piece is Marcus Smart. Smart is a guy that is on a team-friendly deal and has a few more years left on that deal. Washington would LOVE to have Smart as a guy that plays great defense and has a toughness about him with every second he is on the floor.
The second piece is Derrick White. Yes, I know the Celtics just got him at the trade deadline. But honestly, if White plays well, why not sell high on him if it means landing Beal? White also plays great defense and can shoot well from the outside.
The third (and fourth) pieces involve Aaron Nesmith and picks. Nesmith is a young forward who was a really good shooter at Vanderbilt who could use an opportunity to get a lot of minutes. The picks are also intriguing for a Wizards team who will probably look to rebuild for the future. Two first round picks should be very enticing for the Wizards to strongly consider the trade.
So Marcus Smart, Derrick White, Aaron Nesmith and two first round picks? That would be a hard deal for the Wizards to turn down.
The Bradley Beal-Jayson Tatum Connection
It’s no secret that Jayson Tatum and Bradley Beal are close friends. They want to play with each other. Imagine the two of them together in Boston? Plus, it gives the Celtics another elite scorer. Plus, it can allow for Tatum and Jaylen Brown to go to the bench and not worry about a scoring lull. Something also tells me Beal and Tatum would feed off of each other extremely well.
A New Big Three of Brown, Tatum, and Beal!
Say hypothetically, the trade I suggested earlier in the blog actually worked out. You don’t trade Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown and add Bradley Beal. That’s a new big three that Celtics fans would love to have night in and night out. Throw in Robert Williams continuing to develop and now you might even have a core four! But for now, a new big three wouldn’t be the worst thing for the Celtics to possess going into next season.
In Conclusion
The Celtics need to pull off a Bradley Beal trade. This is the move that can make the Celtics jump back into the contenders category. They have a good team right now. But they can make this move to become even better. Hopefully, Brad Stevens has some magic and just a little bit of luck to make this dream scenario a reality. We’ll see this off-season!
