The 2019 Clover Report: Week 16
Saturday night was basketball at its finest. Two heavyweights of the NBA
This game was a classic all the way through as the Celtics came fast but the Warriors kept answering.
The Warriors then held a lead going into the 4th but the Celtics went ahead midway during the quarter. As the game came to a close, the Warriors held a 2 point lead with Draymond Green at the line.
He missed both, but Marcus Smart jumped the gun early which allowed the Warriors to get the offensive rebound and the game was pretty much over.
The Warriors survived 115–111. Kyrie Irving continued his spectacular play as he finished with 32 points and 10 assists. Al Horford had his best game of the year as he finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
So overall, I thought the Celtics played some of their best basketball of the year against the Warriors but when you play the Warriors, every mistake can come back to bite you. But I take more positives than negatives from this game. We know the Celtics can play with the champs, they just have to finish the job.
After the Golden State game, the Celtics had two games left on the home stand. First off was another match up against the Brooklyn Nets.
Irving was out due a sore knee but it didn’t matter as the Celtics won 112–104. Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown combined for 42 points and Al Horford blocked 6 shots. It was a good bounce back win for the team.
Finally to close out the week, the Celtics faced off against the Charlotte Hornets. Irving remained out but it didn’t matter once again as the Celtics blew out the Hornets 126–94.
The Jay-Birds were fantastic as Brown finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds while Tatum finished with 20 points and 5 rebounds. The Celtics finished up an excellent home stand as they have now won 7 of 8. But the Celtics need to continue this success to get back up to the top 3 in the East. 32-19.
