Red Sox infielder Taylor Motter clears waivers, assigned to WooSox
The Red Sox announced that infielder Taylor Motter cleared waivers and was sent to Triple-A Worcester.

Boston designated Motter for assignment on Tuesday. This came one day after the 31-year-old infielder led off for the Sox on Monday afternoon.
Taylor Motter’s last game was Monday
Former Ray Taylor Motter just hit an RBI double off of his former team. He eventually came around to score on a Renfroe RBI double.

Motter’s last game he would go 2-for-5 with a double, triple and an RBI. Motter hit his triple to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning. Despite providing key hits for the Sox at the plate, Motter made two crucial errors in the Monday’s game against Tampa Bay.
Taylor Motter provides depth within the organization
Since joining the Red Sox, the soon to be 32-year-old Motter has been a fan favorite. Motter hit .333 with the Sox during his brief three game stint.
Motter was added off waivers by the Red Sox to provide depth while the club battles through COVID-19 issues. He was DFA’d following the return of Kiké Hernandez and Danny Santana who were activated from the COVID-19 related injured list on Tuesday.
Boston announced Chris Sale will now be placed on the COVID-19 related IL on Friday afternoon.
The Red Sox enter play Friday night holding a three-game advantage over the Blue Jays and Mariners in the American League Wild Card race. Boston is one full game up on the Yankees in the American League Wild Card race.
