Red Sox claim RHP Geoff Hartlieb off waivers from the Mets

The Red Sox continue to remain active on the waiver wire by adding right-handed reliever Geoff Hartlieb. The righty was recently designated for assignment by the Mets.

Hartlieb has appeared in seven games this season for both the Mets and Pirates. The 27-year-old owns an 11.00 ERA in nine innings of work this season.

The Mets designated Hartlieb to make room for left-hander Brad Hand.

New York acquired Hartlieb off waivers from the Pirates earlier this season. Hartlieb owns a 7.46 ERA in 66 1/3 big league innings dating back to 2019.

The new Sox righty will offer them additional depth at Triple-A Worcester. Hartlieb has found more success at the minor league level versus in the majors. He has a career 3.03 ERA in parts of six minor league seasons. In 19 games in Triple-A this season, Hartlieb is 2-2 with a 4.37 ERA in 22 2/3 innings of work.

Hartleib wouldn’t be eligible for a Red Sox postseason roster.
