Jets at Colts: Fantasy Football Preview

Week nine of the NFL is just around the corner with another Thursday Night Football game coming up. The action begins this week once the Jets at Colts game gets underway in Indianapolis. For the Jets, this is another opportunity to deliver an impressive performance much like they did against the Bengals where Mike White went off for 400 yards passing.

Meanwhile for the Colts, this is about making an effort for the top spot of the AFC South. Specially now, as the Titans are without their ace, Derrick Henry for the remainder of the season due to injury.

So, for fantasy football purposes. Who should consider starting, benching and using as a flex option? I got some ideas for you!

Who Should Start – Jets at Colts TNF

Jonathan Taylor – RB Indianapolis Colts

What a phenomenal matchup this is for someone like Jonathan Taylor to go off and have one of his best weeks in terms of production. He went off against Tennessee who can control the running game better than the Jets can, so expect him to do the same. He rushed for 70 yards, caught the ball for an additional 52 and scored a TD. The numbers that you should be expecting from someone as your RB1 option and rolling into week 9, he should be your RB1 if possible.

Additional Must Start!

Mike White – New York jets QB

If you’re a New York Jets fan, you should be pleasantly surprised at the fact that you have a decent backup QB in Mike White as part of your team. Mike has gone off ever since having to come into the matchup against the Patriots. While surely, the Patriots obliterated the Jets, this dude still put up a performance that was highly unexpected.

On top of all that, He went off against a Cincinnati defense that has been able to create chaos when needed. White went off for 405 yards, 3 TD’s and even those he had 2 INT’s, he still produced for 42 fantasy football points in most PPR formats. Week 9 presents an opportunity to attack an average defense like the Colts and with targets like Corey Davis (likely to return) and also a chemistry built with Jamison Crowder, this is another great opportunity for him to shine.

Who you Should Bench!

Mo-Alie Cox – Indianapolis Colts TE

I know, its the Jets and Mo-Alie Cox should benefit on this matchup.

In concept, yes I would agree. However, looking back at how often he’s targeted and even against bad defenses like Seattle, Tennessee, and Houston who can’t deal with tight-ends, I just don’t see an upside to Cox this week. His best production came against Miami which it should have been especially as they can’t contain check down plays and that’s where Cox should be seeing high usage. However, in their second round against the Titans last week, Mo was virtually shut down left and right.

He’s just not an option I’d choose this week.

What’s a Good Flex Option In This Matchup?

Jamison Crowder – WR New York Jets

For Crowder, this is a good matchup against an offense that has been average against wideouts. In week eight, Crowder was targeted 9 times. He caught the ball 8 times for 84 yards and has been someone reliable for Mike White (QB).

The expectation is that Corey Davis returns. However, with already a good rapport built with Mike White at QB. If anything, Davis is more of WR2 at this moment than Crowder. Keep an eye out for him especially as in week four against Tennessee, this dude was a strong contributor.
