Cowboys Vs Panthers Fantasy Football Preview
Week 4 of fantasy football is upon us. This Thursday night football slot had the Bengals coming away victorious against the Jaguars. Other matchups look towards are Eagles vs Chiefs, Cardinals vs Rams, Lions vs Bears, and of course the SNF matchup of Bucs vs Patriots. This article though is about one of the early games and the one I am most looking forward to (for obvious reasons). I am talking about the Cowboys vs Panthers Fantasy Football Preview.
Must Start
Dak Prescott QB Cowboys
Dak is coming off his first home game back after his injury. Last week he threw not 1 not 2 but 3 TDS against the Eagles. As for yards thrown in all 3 games his lowest is 237 and his highest is 403. The 403 yards was against Tom Brady and the Bucs. One thing I know is Dak will need to throw this game against a deadly Panthers defense. He did not throw any interceptions last week but he did have a fumble. This week mistakes can not be made, but I am confident he will perform well, as again the Cowboys are at home. Expect him to throw at least 2 TD’s, and have over 300 yards passing. I expect Prescott to be in the top 10 QBs this week for fantasy.
Sam Darnold QB Panthers
We have a double feature this week for must starts! Why? Because Sam Darnold should absolutely be started. Although he comes off facing a weak Texans team he has shown so far this season what you can do when you’re on a team with a good offense scheme. Another reason to start him is with CMC out you know Darnold will either be A) passing more or B) taking in TD’s himself. In fact, last week he did just that with 2 rushing TD’s scores himself. The lowest amount of yards Darnold has thrown this season 279, the last 2 weeks he has broken 300 yards passing. I believe he does this again, as well as getting a passing TD and rushing TD. Just like Prescott I expect Darnold in the top 10 QB’s this week.
Who will win this Cowboys vs Panthers QB fantasy showdown? This matchup will be A SLINGFEST!
Others To Consider Playing
Dalton Schultz TE Cowboys
Last week Dak Prescott was showing love to a certain TE. This TE none other then Dalton Schultz. In last weeks game against the Eagles Schultz recorded his 1st TD of the season, he also recorded his 2nd. This blow up has peaked people’s interest in him fantasy football wise and if you need a waiver wire TE he could still be available on your league. People may wonder if he doesn’t have the TD’s will he still produce points though? Dallas does have some big offense weapons but even week 1 without a TD he had 6 receptions for 45 yards which in a 1 point PPR league was good for a 10.5 point showing. That is not bad at all for a TE. He has also been reliable at catching his targets with catching 14 of 15 passes thrown his way. Against the Panthers defense the Cowboys will need to use all their offensive options look at Schultz having another productive showing to land in top 10 for TE’s.
Avoid
Robby Anderson WR Panthers
What has happened to Robby Anderson? Week 1 we saw him have his 1 big play of 57 yards and a TD, but of 3 targets he only caught that one. Against the Saints he was targeted 6 times but only caught 3 of those for 38 yards. Last week he was targeted twice but only caught 1 for 8 yards. Needless to say Anderson and Darnold do not have that chemistry on lock. Unlike, DJ Moore who has been very productive with Darnold. There have been interviews in which Rhule has mentioned they need to get the ball to Anderson more. But, not only does the ball need to get to him he also needs to catch it. On 11 targets this season Anderson has only caught 4. This week is not the week that I see Anderson having a better game. Even with CMC out Anderson would only be a flex option at most, for me I am avoiding him.
Cowboys vs Panthers Final Thoughts
This article has talked a lot about offense talent but we can not forget defense talent. The Panthers boast the #1 defense and will have what I consider their first true offense opponent test. If you have them I would start them but do not expect the showing they have had. The Cowboys defense also put out quite the performance at home last week against the Eagles with 12 fantasy football points. If you are looking for a streaming defense that you can get decent points look here, they will probably not have the stellar performance of last week but I still expect some defensive plays from both teams.
As I mentioned earlier SLINGFEST. This Cowboys vs Panthers matchup will be a good one for fantasy football points.
