Which Team Needs to Succeed During Free Agency?

July 1st is right around the corner and it is usually one of the craziest times during the NBA off-season. Multiple teams will be active on the phones as they try to bring the best potential players for their franchise. I believe there are a couple teams that need to win this free agency and if not, next season could be a long one for their fans. The Boston Celtics and New York Knicks are the two teams that need to nail this free agency.

I’ll start with the Knicks. They had it all coming into this off-season. They were the favorites to land superstars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. They also had one the worst record in the NBA and were hoping to receive the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft. However, we all know they didn’t get that pick and Durant is more likely to pick-up his option with Golden State due to a torn Achilles. The Knicks have 70 million dollars in cap room this off-season and the expectations were to sign two superstars. With that being in jeopardy, the Knicks have to come up with a plan B in order to keep the fans in New York happy.

As for the Boston Celtics. What a disaster these last 9 months have been for this franchise. A team that was supposed to be championship contenders, becoming a team that could potentially be a lottery team. The team is more than likely going to lose Kyrie Irving and Al Horford, two of which were big parts of the franchises future. They have 26 million dollars in cap room and they need to figure out whether or not they are going to use that to pay Terry Rozier. The team is going to be young but they need to find a player that will help this team gel better than they did last season.

Both franchises are very well respected around the league. The NBA won’t feel the same if one of these teams are competing at a high level. This free agency is going to be one of the best free agencies to remember.
