Where Does America’s Team Go From Here?

When Jerry Jones was on his yacht the night of the NFL Draft, there is no way he could have imagined that this season would have gone down like this. The Dallas Cowboys were considered Super Bowl contenders in the NFC and now they’re looking at a top-10 draft pick next season.

After another brutal loss this past Sunday to the Washington Football Team, where does America’s Team go from here?

The Culture in the Locker Room

The Cowboys lost Andy Dalton after he took a vicious hit from Washington’s Jon Bostic. With 6:32 left in the third quarter, Dalton scrambled on a run and as he was sliding Bostic dove head first and knocked Dalton out. Dalton would immediately leave the game and would be entered into the NFL Concussion protocol program.

Where were the Cowboys after that hit too Dalton? If that was Dak Prescott that was getting knocked out by an opposing team’s linebacker, someone would have stepped in and defended him. The lack of fight from the Cowboys following that hit directly speaks to the culture in Big D.

The Cowboys haven’t looked right under McCarthy and they way things are progressing, he could be one and done in Dallas. According to Colin Cowherd, the locker room is questioning McCarthy to the media. The Cowboys locker room is saying McCarthy and his staff aren’t teaching players and getting them prepared for games.

Insult to Injury

If you couldn’t think things could get any worse for the Cowboys they added further insult to injury. On Tuesday night, Defensive Coordinator Mike Nolan was speaking to the media when he rubbed his eye. Then they had to stop his press conference.

Why? Because he had Tabasco sauce on his finger and he rubbed it in his eye. Man, 2020 shows no mercy. If you are a Curb Your Enthusiasm fan, there is only one reason why you should have tabasco sauce on your finger.

Where do the Cowboys go from here?

So back to my original question, where do the Cowboys go from here? The Cowboys are sitting 2-5 and in third place in the NFC East. They have rookie Ben DiNucci and Garrett Gilbert on the roster but desperately need someone under center with NFL experience.

The Cowboys could swing a trade and acquire a veteran starter like Ryan Fitzpatrick in Miami. It looks unlikely that Miami could trade the veteran quarterback after just handing the reigns over to Tua. They could turn to the Eagles practice squad and sign Josh McCown to lead them until Dalton is able to comeback this season.

The Cowboys have hit rock bottom, their defense sucks, their head coach is probably going to be fired and they are now down two starting quarterbacks. While the Cowboys are trying to figure out how they are going to salvage this dreaded season, people will stomp on Dallas’ grave. Stephen A. Smith just cut a rug all over the star at the 50 yard line after their latest loss.

Which begs the question, where exactly do the Cowboys go from here?
