UFC 229 Was Absolute Madness, and The UFC Announces Two Huge Fights

UFC 229 was this past Saturday and what an event it was. There were multiple finishes on the card. Derrick Lewis had one of the craziest come from behind KO wins over Alexander Volkov; Tony Ferguson and Anthony Pettis put on one of the most entertaining fights in UFC history. Of course the most highly anticipated fight in UFC history Khabib vs McGregor certainly did’nt disappoint. You can tell from round one Khabib handled the magnitude of the moment with out a problem. Khabib dominated McGregor the whole fight. He even almost finished McGregor in round 2 with some vicious ground and pound. He ended up getting the victory in round 4 via submission. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, after the fight Khabib jumped over the cage and attacked McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis. Absolute chaos broke out and two of Khabib’s teammates jumped the cage and attacked McGregor. Dana White didn’t even put the belt around Khabib’s waste. Security got McGregor out of the arena easily, but fans threw any thing they could throw at Khabib as he left the arena. Khabib is still lightweight champion but it’s still unknown if he’ll be suspended or not. McGregor won’t be suspended and recently signed a 6-fight deal with the UFC.

Even after one of the biggest night in UFC history more huge announcements came a couple days after. Just announced last night UFC finally revealed who their headliner is for UFC 230 in MSG. Daniel Cormier the UFC heavyweight champion will be defending his heavyweight strap against Derrick Lewis. Lewis is coming of his huge UFC 229 performance where he knocked Volkov out cold with 14 seconds left in the fight. Lewis then gave one of the funniest post fight interviews of all time. His interview was all over social media and Lewis gained a huge amount of Intagram followers after UFC 229.

Almost lost in all the madness is another huge fight announcement. DC will be stripped of his light heavyweight championship and it’ll be up for grabs at UFC 232. The two men fighting for it are Alexander Gustafsson and Jon Jones. Jon Jones got his suspension shortened by USDA and he’ll now be making his return in December. This is the second time these two will fight. There first fight was an instant classic and regarded as one of the best UFC title fights in history.
