Chase Young: Defensive Rookie Of The Year
The #2 overall draft pick in the 2020 draft did everything he had to do in order to live up the hype of being a franchise changing defensive end. Chase Young won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. He put up a sensational season stat line. Young had 15 games played, 44 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and even a touchdown. The 6’5 264 lb. elite athlete looks to take the experience he gained in his rookie season and turn into one of the best defensive players in the NFL.
The Washington Football Team star was able to not only fill up the stat sheet, but also help his team win games. The Washington Football Team was able to win their division and clinch a playoff berth. Young was a huge part of that success. I believe the defensive end can help put the Washington Football Team back in the 2021 Playoffs. Coach Ron Rivera deserves a ton of credit for 2020. WFT should see another great season in 2021. They could even be repeating as the NFC East winner, which we will get to in just a moment.
The Washington Football Team
The Washington Football Team were expected to finish last in their Division in the 2020 Season. The odds couldn’t have been more wrong. The Washington Football Team ended up winning their sloppy yet stingy NFC East Division with a 7-9 record. They received a playoff birth where they had to face the now Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Coach Ron Rivera had the challenge of battling cancer while being the head coach. He made no excuses. This resulted in his team reaching heights no one thought they could, outside of men in the locker room that is.
The oddsmakers believe that the Dallas Cowboys are a big favorite to win the NFC East. I am here to disagree! The Cowboys have always been a publicly favored team. This could be due to their enormous fanbase and of course, the famous “star” logo. The New York Giants should take a stride forward as far as improvements go and I see Philly staying as a bottom 10 team in the league due to their lack of experience at the major skill positions along with their recent coaching change.
Chase Young Sophomore Season Prediction
Without a doubt, Young had about as good as a rookie season as you can ask for. However, I believe there is an opportunity for Chase to really dominate the league in just his second year in the NFL. An extra game on the regular season schedule leaves more room for Young to increase all of his statistics. But most importantly, he’ll also help his team win games. Look for Young to be a leader in Sacks league-wide. Young could even contend with the one man wrecking crew himself, Aaron Donald, for the Defensive Player Of The Year Award.
