The New York Jets Chose an Interesting Time to Fire Their GM

Jets gonna Jet, amirite?
The New York Jets officially fired GM Mike Mccagnan earlier today, and I can’t seem to wrap my head around why. Ownership allowed him to hire a new coach, go out and spend a bunch of money in free agency, and make a selection with the third overall pick, just to let him go before the season even starts? I would say I’m surprised, but this move just SCREAMS Jets. This is literally what you don’t want to do heading into a season where you’ve basically changed your entire team.
What makes this even funnier to me, is the potential backlash. Interim GM and HC Adam Gase reportedly never wanted to sign one of the team’s biggest FA’s this offseason:
One disagreement between Adam Gase and Mike Maccagnan/Christopher Johnson…
Gase absolutely did not want to sign Le’Veon Bell, per sources. In fact, he made it clear that he didn’t want to spend a lot of money on any running back.

Oooooooooooooh baby, do I love me some controversy. Based on his track record, you have to assume that Bell is going to see this and get pissed. While Gase made it very clear he loves the player but not the money, I still can’t see this ending well for him.
We’ve seen Bill Belichick struggle often managing both the HC and GM role. It’s not an easy thing to do by any means necessary, which is why Adam Gase’s first official move as GM has me shaking in my boots. I can’t wait to see how he makes this franchise looks dumber than they already are. J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS!
