Bruins Lose Valuable Fourth Liner

The Boston Bruins grabbed a stranglehold lead over the Hurricanes last night by going up in the series 3-0. It was a hard fought 2-1 win and in the waning minutes of the third period Chris Wagner jumped out to the point to block a Justin Faulk shot, the shot ripped Wagner in the forearm and sent him to the locker room for the remainder of the game.

Wagner has been a great player for the Bruins this postseason and the fourth line has provided a load of energy against Carolina this series. Wagner already has two goals in the series and was contributing on a nightly basis in the hit department. Wagner was seen sporting a sling on his way out of the locker room last night and head coach Bruce Cassidy informed the media “He’s not good right now.” He’s believed to be doubtful for the series next game on Thursday.

Although the Bruins are losing a very effective winger in Wagner it appears that Noel Acciari is healthy and ready to play again. He’ll slot into that fourth line role if Wagner is unable to play. Acciari had missed five games in a row due to an upper body injury but is fully healthy and has been participating in practices the past few days. Acciari has been able to score a goal and an assist over his 11 playoff games. The Bruins will be depending on Acciari to step in and keep that fourth line pressing, they’ve been able to wreak havoc on Carolina and have been pressuring the offensive zone the whole series.

The Bruins are trying to sweep the Hurricanes on Thursday night in Raleigh. Puck drop will be set for 8:00. The Bruins will likely have to do it without workhorse Chris Wagner but hopefully they can finish the Canes off.
