This has to be one of the worst times in American and World history. Having no sports has been very difficult for most people, and it seems like this might be going on longer than we thought.
The NBA is trying to figure out any way they can to salvage their season and to crown a champion for the 2019-2020 season. Reports have been coming out that Las Vegas has been a real possibility for the league to resume. However, a lot needs to happen for this to come to realization.
One, testing for the COVID-19 virus needs to be consistent for these players. For these players to quarantine in Las Vegas, testing would need to be daily. These players cannot risk their lives just to finish a season.
I am all forward to trying to resume the season at some point. What I feel the league should is, start back up in July if it’s safe to do so. You can finish the regular season in July, and playoffs can begin in August. The league can crown an NBA champion in September.
The 2011-2012 Lockout Season
I remember the 2011-2012 season, it was known as the lockout season. The league and the players association came to a deal and lifted the lockout on December 8th, 2011. The season would ultimately begin on Christmas day. So, why not start the 2020-2021 season on Christmas day to finish the current season that has been suspended.
I remain optimistic that things will work out, and the league will be able to finish their suspended season. However, things around the world need to get better because right now, keeping lives safe is more important than forcing an NBA season.
