The Most Anticipated Movies of 2018
Hey guys, before I start this article I just wanted to say I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and have a safe New Year. With 2017 pretty much behind us, it’s time to look ahead to 2018; specifically movies of 2018. Here is my list of my most anticipated movies for the upcoming year. This is my personal list so if you disagree, throw the comments down below. Here are some that didn’t quite make the list.
Honorable Mentions- Tomb Raider, Mission Impossible 6, Fantastic Beats: The Crimes of Grinelwald, and Aquaman
10 Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th)- The 2nd spinoff in the Star Wars franchise, Solo will be the solo outing for Han Solo. Yes, I know it’s confusing but basically it’s a Han Solo origin movie. To be honest, I don’t think this is a movie people are looking forward to, nor one that they asked for. But because it’s a Star Wars movie, it just cracks the top 10.
9 Creed II (November 21st)- The sequel to 2015’s Creed, Creed II brings back Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed and Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa. Here we continue Adonis’ story where he is expected to come face to face with the man who killed his father, Ivan Drago.
8 X-Men: Dark Phoenix (November 2nd)- Taking 10 years after the events of Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix is the newest and perhaps final movie installment in the X-Men franchise. While James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence all return for this movie; Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey will take center stage in this installment. Jessica Chastain is expected to be the villain of the film.
7 Ant-Man and the Wasp (July 6th)- Not only will Ant-Man and the Wasp be 1 of 3 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies this year; it will be the 20th installment of the franchise when it comes out. Taking place after the events of Captain America: Civil War; this sequel will focus on Ant-Man being on the run and Wasp coming into her own.
6 Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22nd)- Yet another sequel on the list, Fallen Kingdom is the sequel to the massive hit Jurassic World. Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and a bunch of huge ass dinosaurs return for the sequel. Jeff Goldblum also reprises his Jurassic Park role as Doctor Ian Malcolm. While I am not expecting this to be as smart as Jurassic Park, I still love the dumb fun that comes seeing dinosaurs on the big screen.
5 Ready Player One (March 30th)- Based on the well-known book of the same name, Ready Player One is a movie that could be the sleeper hit of the year. Directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg, Ready Player One is a coming of age story that involves a virtual world and a bunch of legendary pop culture characters. Take my money now.
4 Incredibles 2 (June 15th)- A movie that has been asked for over and over again, The Incredibles will be finally getting a sequel. Coming out 14 years after the original, Incredibles 2 is expected to take place immediately after the events of the 1st. Expectations are sky high for the newest Pixar movie.
3 Deadpool 2 (June 1st)- Coming off of the enormous success from the original, the Merck with the Mouth is back in Deadpool 2. The entire cast is back from the 1st with two major additions with Josh Brolin as Cable and Zazie Beetz as Domino. Expect this movie to one of the funniest and most violent of the year.
2 Black Panther (February 16th)- What made Wonder Woman such an important movie this year was that it broke barriers in the genre. Black Panther has a chance to do that this year. Being the 1st African-American led superhero movie in the MCU, Black Panther takes place after Captain America: Civil War where T’Challa will be taking up the thrown and the secret nation Wakanda. Trust me when I say this, we are in for something special.
1 Avengers: Infinity War (May 4th)- Too all other movies coming out in 2018, sorry it wasn’t even close. Without a doubt, Avengers: Infinity War is the most anticipated movie of 2018. The culmination of the entire MCU, Infinity War will bring every single hero together to fight the Mad Titan himself, Thanos. When the trailer dropped last month, it broke the record for trailer views in the 1st 24 hours with 230 million. So it’s safe to say that A LOT of people will be seeing this when it comes out. Just 128 days left.
