The Masters: Sleeper Picks 2022

The Masters tournament is back and along come the sleeper picks for 2022.

One of the many signs that summer is around the corner, is when the Masters time arrives. Spring is here, we are finally seeing an end to the COVID-19 Pandemic and Augusta, Georgia is waiting once again to bring one of the most exciting tournaments of the year back to life.

So, aside of the favorites to win this year. What are some sleeper picks to consider? Let’s have a look!

Top Sleeper Picks!

Abraham Ancer – Mexico

The Mexican is coming off one of his best performances thus far in his young career. At 31 years of age, Abraham Ancer has had two top 25 performances in 14 events. Riding one of his best hands so far, Ancer will look to finish stronger than he did last year. In his performance last year, he was close to writing history as he was tied for second place after 54 holes. However, a bad performance in the last day made him stumble to 13th place, something he will look to correct this year. Certainly, one top keep on the radar for potential winners this year.

Sebastian Muñoz – Colombia

Muñoz is 55th in world ranking so far while still relatively young at 29 years of age. The Colombian is coming off one his best forms so far in his career after performing in the Valerio Texas Open. While his experience is still somewhat considered as a rookie on this stage, the Bogota-Colombia native has shown that he is a quick study. In his first Masters, he finished T-19, not bad for someone with little experience at this stage. He is another one riding a hot hand, and yes, one that I considered a sleeper pick last year and again this one.

Potential Comeback Stories – Sleeper Pick Edition

So as we dig deeper into The Masters Sleeper Picks, there are two additional names I would consider taking a flyer on. One thing we know about The Masters tournament is that the impossible can happen. So, if you are a risk-taker, these are two names to consider.

Francesco Molinari – Italy

Look, the man has had his moments and last year was certainly one of those. Molinari had a massive meltdown performance in his last Masters. However, if there is somebody that can pull it together and make a comeback story it would be the Italian. After all, he’s been a winner before!

Tiger Woods – USA

Could Augusta, Georgia be home to yet another Tiger Rawr? Could 2022 be the sequel to one of the greatest comebacks in sports history?

Tiger Woods took to Twitter early today, mentioning that he would be on his way to Augusta, Georgia. His plan is to prepare, and well, he indicated being “A game-time decision” for the Major tournament which will start on Thursday. After nearly 14 months of recovering from a fatal car crash, are we about to witness Tiger Woods take on yet another massive fight and potentially win the Masters? Nevertheless, if he does so, he would be tying Jack Nicklaus’ record. What a moment that would be!

Bonus Sleeper Pick!

Ian Poulter – England

Say what you want about Ian Poulter but you know what? The 45 year old English golfer is yet on another year of top form! He’s coming off some very nice performances and if there is anyone with excellent experience at Augusta, Georgia is him. Poulter’s accuracy off the tee is one that certainly doesn’t hurt, if you are looking for a safe bet, Poulter is certainly one of your best options. Another key factor is, he’s landed in top 25 positions in the last two years. Ian makes for a perfect consideration and a dark horse pick.

With that said, let the 2022 Masters begin and another incredible story to be written.
