Vegas Golden Knights Week Recap
Season 2021-2022
Tuesday Night @SEA, 3/29:
On Tuesday night, Logan Thompson took the net against SEA making it his seventh consecutive game played. The game began with a… performative… fight between Keegan Kolesar and Jamie Oleksiak. Sadly, the night ended early for Kolesar a few minutes later when Kolesar took a hit from Riley Sheahan. Kolesar walked off the ice and did not come back for the rest of the game, adding one more player to the injured list.
DeBoer on Keegan Kolesar- “Out, day to day I would call him.”

By the end of the third period, VGK was up 2-0. 2nd period goal by Shea Theodore, which was his first score after a dry spell since January. 3rd period goal by Michael Amadio, but SEA scored during the last two minutes. Thankfully, Pete DeBoer came to the rescue, correctly challenged the play which resulted into an offside play and there was NO GOAL. During the last few seconds, Jonathan Marchessault scored on an empty net, and Vegas wins 3-0 making this Thompson’s fifth win out of his seven consecutive games played AND most importantly, his first NHL shutout win.

Friday Night @SEA, 4/1:
With a beautiful shutout win on Tuesday, Thompson once again took the net on Friday night at SEA. The first period of this game saw an Jack Eichel goal, but the night didn’t end there of course, and had a very eventful next two periods. With about 18 minutes left of the second period, Eichel was already on hat trick watch. Theodore scored the third goal, making the game 3-0. During this second period still, two fights broke out, Michael Amadio v. Jared McCaan, and Ben Hutton v. Yanni Gourde.
SEA tried to fight back during the third period, with Alexander Wennberg scoring the first goal of these last two Seattle games. The last three minutes of this game is where it got the most interesting. Marchessault scored on an empty net during the last 2:16. Dylan Coghlan ended up taking a puck to the face, seemed as if he was in discomfort, and Kole Lind (SEA) scored a few seconds later at 1:38, making the score 4-2. Nothing was said about the status of Coghlan after the score. At the last 30 seconds and to end the game, Karlsson ended up empty net scoring VGK’s 5th goal. This makes it Thompson’s sixth win out of eight consecutive games played.
This week’s total addition to the injured list: Keegan Kolesar
Teams that need to win today, 4/3, in order to help VGK:
- Ducks v. Oilers: Ducks, because the Oilers are one game less than VGK and if the Ducks get the points, the Oilers stay at a steady 83 points, and 70 games played.
- Seattle v. Dallas: Seattle, but this would be a big stretch for hope.
Worst case scenarios:
- VGK loses, points stay at 80 while games played rises.
- Ducks losing against the Oilers, giving the Oilers 85 points with one game less than VGK and up by a few points.
- Seattle loses. VGK is currently fighting for that spot alongside Dallas, but Dallas is still three games behind and only one point ahead, which means if Dallas keeps winning and once they catch up on the games, they could have a points advantage against VGK. So either VGK starts winning most of their next few games or Dallas begins to slack off.
