The Lakers Are Enforcing The “LaVar Ball Rule” Because LaVar Can’t Stop Talking

Believe me, I know people who love attention. It’s to the point sometimes where they absolutely need it and if they don’t get it, they will go to the most ridiculous lengths to get it. And it’s without question that Lonzo Ball’s dad, LaVar, is one of those people.

And you know what, don’t get me wrong, I’m impressed with the way he has handled himself since he and his family have hit the spotlight. They’ve gone from just Lonzo, a potential top 10 pick in the 2017 NBA draft, to an entire media circus all because LaVar inserted himself into the situation. Now they are a name brand and it’s electric.

But this has made the struggling Lakers enforce an existing rule because they need the media to stop going to LaVar for soundbites.

The team is 8 and 15 and they are about to hit a major stretch where they play the Cavs, Warriors and Rockets. When the team is done with this stretch, you better believe the media, especially the smart members of the media looking to get an interesting story, are going to scamper over to LaVar so he can trash the coaching. Because they should and if they don’t they are DUMB. You want eyes to the blog or article? Go to LaVar. It’s easy. Nothing could be easier in the world.

LA is trying to make it sound like this isn’t because of LaVar. Please. No other family or friends of Lakers players are making the news.

This is awesome though. We all knew this was coming. Whatever team drafted Lonzo was going to have to deal with this headache. And of course the Lakers needed this guy because Magic loves the drama. The organization’s one of the dumbest in sports if they thought this was going to be easy. What’re you going to do if he gets even more out of hand? Ban him? Good luck. The guy is going to trash you for YEARS and then get so deep inside of your head that you will draft Gelo and Melo.

I don’t want to be the one to say it… But LaVar basically owns the Lakers at this point.
