The Jadeveon Clowney Trade Rumors Are Swirling
The 2014 #1 overall draft choice will be on the move soon. Clowney, the Texans top choice 5-years ago is on the trade market after he and the team failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension. The team had previously placed a franchise tag on Clowney.
The Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson has reported that the Texans have reached out to Seattle, Philly, Washington, and the Jets as potential trade partners for the talented outside linebacker. Another team whose name has been swirling around as a potential trade partner is the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins Problem
The Dolphins may want to give pause to this rumor though, based on reports of how upset it would make some players. For the Dolphins to land the three-time Pro Bowler, they would have to give up a hefty sum. This sum includes offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil.
Based on what the Miami Herald has reported, this would cause players to “revolt”.
Based on the latest mullings around the league, Seattle is now the frontrunner. The Seahawks have a wealth of picks they can use to land Clowney. They also happen to be in need of another pass rusher.
The Texans may have a hard time finding their ideal return for Clowney, but they’re caught between a rock and a hard place. Either get something lesser in return for a premier pass rusher or watch that premier pass rusher hold out for a ridiculous contract.
