The Best Movies of 2017 Thus Far

I’d like to break up your Gordon Hayward to the Celtics news feed with a movie article. With June officially behind us, we are halfway through 2017. Now that we’ve reached this point, I am here to rank the best movies of 2017 so far. Now have I seen every movie? No, in fact I have only seen 12 films. So this is just my personal list of films that I have seen. Let’s begins with some honorable mentions.

Honorable Mentions

7) John Wick: Chapter 2: While John Wick: Chapter 2 isn’t as good as the original, it’s still crazy fun. The action is gritty, real, and over the top. By expanding this world of assassins, the possibilities are endless for the 3rd. 85%

6) Beauty and the Beast: While some haven’t been fans of these Disney live action remakes, I have been a huge supporter. Beauty and the Beast isn’t as good as the cartoon version, but it’s still a beautiful movie with beautiful music. Emma Watson was everything that you expected to see from Belle. 88%

Patriots Day
Mark Wahlberg in Patriots Day.

5-1

5) Patriots Day: Released worldwide in January, Patriots Day retells the events of the tragedy known as the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombings. It’s an emotional rollercoaster and a film that is very respectable to the victims involved with the event. If you are from Boston, it may be hard to watch, but if you’re up to it, it’s worth it. 90%

4) Wonder Woman: No movie had more pressure on it this year to be good like Wonder Woman. Luckily for all of us, it delivers on all fronts and then some. Gal Gadot was great as Diana Prince as she singlehandedly helped get the DCU back on track. We’ll see her again in November in Justice League. 92%

3) The Lego Batman Movie: I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t like this movie. Whether you are a kid, an adult, a Lego fan, or a Batman fan; there’s something in here that you will love. Honestly, it’s the best spoof movie that been made by Hollywood in a long, long time. 93%

LoganX23
Hugh Jackman and Dafne Keen in Logan.

2) Baby Driver: It’s original, it’s smart, and it’s one of the most unique movies I’ve seen in a while. Writer/Director Edgar Wright had his fingerprints all over this stylish and exciting action comedy. The car chases are great but the music is even better. 94%

1) Logan: People were expecting this movie to be good, but not this good. Logan is a brutal but perfect sendoff off to Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine. Not only is it the best superhero movie made this year, it’s in the conversation for the greatest ever made. There’s a lot of swears, a lot of blood, and a 12 year old that kicks so much ass. 95%
