The Bandits Bring Back Some Key Players

The Buffalo Bandits are getting ready for another season after the National Lacrosse League shut down in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Good news for Bandits fans though, the team brought back two key pieces yesterday. Forwards Josh Byrne and Chase Fraser were resigned by the team and as I mentioned already, they are both important to the team.

Starting off with Byrne, I would say he is Buffalo’s MVP. Before the pandemic shut everything down, Byrne had 29 goals and 26 assists in 11 games played. I’m no expert or anything but 55 points in 11 games during a 16 game season is pretty good. It helps that his coach is John Tavares, who is considered to be the Wayne Gretzky of lacrosse. Josh was also the first overall pick in 2017. He is without a doubt the face of the franchise and he is an electric player.

Byrne wasn’t the only forward coming back. Chase Fraser was signed to a one year deal as well yesterday. The man they call “The Fraze” scored 16 goals and registered 10 assists in 2020. Not only can he put up points but he’s also not afraid to get under the opponents skin. For those of you who don’t watch indoor lacrosse, it’s very physical and can get chippy. Fraser is exactly the kind of player you want on your team. He has some swagger as well as you can see in the video below.

Final Thoughts

I’ve said it a few times in the article but both of these players are important to the Bandits. Josh is a generational talent and Fraser can score and get physical. They are fan favorites in Buffalo and good ambassadors in my opinion for the NLL. I can’t wait for next season and it’s great to have both of them on the team going forward.
