The Champions League tournament has had many twists and turns, leading off to what will be an exciting match between two brilliantly managed teams this year! So, what can we expect out of the UEFA Champions League final? Let’s take a look!
The Details!
The Champions league final is set to kick off on Saturday May 29th, at 3PM EST.
The final was supposed to be in Istanbul. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the European region, UEFA officials decided to change the venue! Now, It’ll take place at Porto’s Estadio do Draggao in Porto, Portugal. UEFA’s decision came as Turkey was placed in the British list of countries flagged due to rising cases and deaths because of COVID-19.
Along with the change of the venue, a crowd of 12,000 fans will be witnessing this final! Tickets were officially on sale as of Monday May 24th via Uefa.com. Pricing averaged between $100USD to $750USD per person.
So now that you know, let’s get more into what to expect out of each team!
Manchester City – Sergio Aguero’s Legendary Ending?
Manchester City’s budget-busting roster are looking to put an end to what has been a decade-long quest for the win of their 1st Champions League in their first final.
Alongside of that comes what could be the most legendary ending of all-time at the club. As Sergio Aguero is expected to leave Manchester City at the end of the season.

After a long stint at the English Team, Aguero is looking to close this chapter with one of his biggest dreams during his stay with the club, lifting the Champions League trophy. So, what can we expect from the City side?
Manchester City has enjoyed a dream season thus far. The team coached by Pep Guardiola managed to overcome a slow and weak start to their season and went onto winning the EPL and Carabao Cup. Pep’s side has managed to command thru the opposition and leave them all in the dust while chasing titles! At one point during the season, the club went on a 21 game-winning streak and are now still undefeated in Champions League with 11 wins, 1 draw and 0 losses.
At the final, Manchester City will need that same exact drive and competitiveness to wash away the London-based Chelsea team. If Manchester City stacked up in the same manner as they did against a strong PSG side, with Silva and DeBruyne upfront supported by Gundogan and Mahrez, Chelsea’s defense would be in for an even tougher battle.

The London-Based Chelsea team has also had a stellar season that is pending a great ending!
Mid-point thru the season, Chelsea’s upper management decided to part ways with club legend, Frank Lampard. After taking over the position, Tuchel’s tactics have rejuvenated a hungry and driven Chelsea team full of youth and talent. However, as the saying has it “Coffee is for closers” which is something I question about this team.
As of late, Chelsea’s goal scoring hasn’t been sensational and in fact, they were shut out in an FA Cup final loss against Leicester City. On the final 3 matches of the Premier League, the club dropped two of those matches which almost cost them the berth to next years’ Champions League.
For Chelsea, It will be extremely important to be challenging and play tough all game long. Should Chelsea manage to giveaway the ball possession to Manchester City, it could spell a recipe for disaster especially as their attack could come from any given angle opportunity. On the flip side though, if the midfield for Chelsea can manage to get speedy attackers like Pulisic and Werner going, that could be their best chances to create havoc for City’s defense.
Overall Prediction…
In the last 3 times that these clubs have met, Chelsea has won 2/3 against City. Included in those victories is the latest on May 8th, when Chelsea beat City 2-1 at Etihad Stadium. Given these trends, Chelsea should be considered at least a live underdog in this final. The concerning thought for Chelsea is the fact that goalkeeper Edouard Mendy (Bruised ribs) and key midfielder Ngolo Kante (hamstring) are both hopeful to make recoveries ahead of the final.
Meanwhile, looking at Manchester is hard to bet against them. Manchester City have won 41/45 matches were they have scored first! Chelsea’s lack to maintain ball possession is just too much a risk to take especially if City scores first. In addition, City is at full strength and well rested.
We can’t also take away the high-note they are in. City’s last game of the EPL season was against Everton where they won 5-0. Oh! And don’t let me forget that Sergio Aguero scored 2 in his send-off at home.
My prediction is, Manchester City wins this one. A 3-1 score prediction for this final match seems fitting. Good luck City!
