With the regular season ending this week, the Celtics had one more task to accomplish. That was getting home court against the Indiana Pacers. The two faced off in Indiana on Friday to decide who would get the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference. From the start, Boston dominated and won 117-97. Gordon Hayward was perfect from the floor as he finished 9-9 with 21 points off of the bench. The Celtics locked up the 4 seed with two games left in the season.
In their final home game of the year, the Celtics hosted the Orlando Magic. The Magic were playing for a postseason spot and they played hard. They won 116-108 as Nikola Vucevic finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Marcus Smart and Jayson Tatum left the game due to injuries.
Finally to close out the year, the Celtics traveled to Washington to take on the Wizards. Seven Celtics sat out to rest for the postseason. Despite that, the Celtics won 116-110 to close out the regular season. Terry Rozier led the way with 21 points while Semi Ojeleye and Brad Wanamaker each added 17 in the win.
So there you have it. The crazy regular season has ended for the Boston Celtics and the postseason begins. They are the 4th seed and play the Indiana Pacers in the 1st round. For me, a successful year is the Celtics getting at least to the Conference Finals. That means they have to play their ass off over the next few weeks. It’s possible, but it’s time to put up or shut up. 49-33.
