Stipe Miocic Deserves an Immediate Rematch Against Daniel Cormier

It’s no secret that Stipe Miocic will go down as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. Miocic defended the belt more times than any other heavyweight in the UFC. UFC 203 he defeated Allistar Overeem by KO in round one. At UFC 211 he defeated Junior Dos Santos in round one via TKO. At UFC 220 he put on an absolute clinic against Francis Ngannou to win via unanimous decision. Miocic lost to Daniel Cormier at UFC 226, and it looks like an immediate rematch for Stipe is out of the picture.

Miocic wants an immediate rematch, and in my opinion he deserves an immediate rematch. Brock Lesnar vs Cormier is obviously going to bring the UFC a lot of money. Every time Lesnar is on a card it guarantees a lot of pay per view buys, but is Brock Lesnar really deserving of a title fight? Lesnar lost 2 of his last three fights, and his only win at UFC 200 was overturned to a no contest after he failed a drug test. The last time Miocic lost before UFC 226 was all the way back in 2014, where he lost a decision to Junior Dos Santos.

The main argument a lot of people have against Miocic getting an immediate rematch is that he got knocked out in round one. Joanna Jedrzejczyk was given an immediate rematch against current champion Rose Namajunas after getting knocked out in round 1. Former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrant is getting an immediate rematch at UFC 227 after losing to TJ Dilishaw at UFC 217. UFC 217 was Garbrant’s first time defending the title, and he’s still getting an immediate rematch.

Obviously UFC wants to do Brock Lesnar vs DC, because that’s the money fight. In a fair world Miocic should get his rematch. Miocic has never tested positive, has never turned down an opponent, and has always done what was asked of him. With out a doubt I think Stipe Miocic should get an immediate rematch.
