#SoccerSaturdays: Another Exciting Premier League Day!

Another exciting weekend with Premier league matchups loaded with action!

While some of the matches for fans were seen as a “No Brainer” let me just say that this year, there is no such thing as that in the English Premier League. Allow me to bring you up to speed with the action today.

AMAZING: Crystal Palace vs. Everton!

The premier league got underway today with one of the best matches so far.

Crystal Palace has shown nothing but grit so far this season. As for the Toffees, that team is in a whole new level and seems like they won’t be slowing down what so ever.

James Rodriguez continues to be the center of attention for Everton, his relationship with Carlo Ancelotti is clearly a close one. The Italian boss has a lot of faith in his midfielder and rightfully so. That midfield trio between Rodriguez, Alan and Doucoure is just too much to handle at the time.

While Crystal Palace put on a very good fight, the Toffees knew exactly what they came in to do today and kept their perfect start intact as they win 2-1.

Drama full: Manchester United vs. Brighton Hove & Albion.

If you are a Manchester United fan like myself, you looked at the calendar and probably said “Easy Win” Now speed forward to this morning 7:30AM EST, yeah not so much!

The Red Devils got off to a slow start which within the first 9 minutes of the game showed. Bruno Fernandes was putting pressure on a good drive by Brighton and committed a foul in the box which came in costly giving Brighton the lead early in the game.

Speed forward and then quickly the game gets actually exciting as the match then turns into a 2-1 match in favor for the Reds after a sexy-goal from Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United would get their first corner kick of the game towards the end of it. Harry Maguire heads the ball, the ball meets the hand of Brighton’s Neal Maupay, whistle blows, end of game.

Yeah, not so fast! Maguire and half of the reds quickly make a bee-line for the ref. After review of the play, the ref signals a penalty at the end of the game, something that has never happened in soccer! Manchester United wins after what many would say, a HIGHLY disappointing performance.

THRILLER: Chelsea vs. West Brom!

Now if you thought Manchester United versus Brighton was bad, think again!

Chelsea was down and getting dominated by a very strong and fast West Bromwich side. However, after that horrific first half, Lampard’s boys were able to pull it together and find a way to get themselves back in the game.

A very savvy and powerful move by Lampard bringing Callum Hudson-Odoi into the game, put the finishing touches necessary for Chelsea to be able to capitalize and get a tying score out of this game. I will say, I was incredibly surprise to see how quickly West Brom got ahead.

On the Yellow Card Podcast with Chris Jones and myself, episode 1 we mentioned Chelsea being the best in 2020-2021. However, it seems that Lampard’s side has yet to meld together and with Cristian Pulisic not involved, this could take sometime.

In Conclusion:

As mentioned previously, the Yellow Card Podcast covers the English Premier league so make sure to catch episode 4 tomorrow! Aside of that, it seems that this may be the year where the EPL takes a turn and those teams that were considered middle-bottom of the table, are the teams that could very well end on top should their years continue at this pace.

Best team this Saturday though in my opinion was Everton. Carlo Ancelotti and company have managed to get into a groove and wouldn’t be surprising to see this end in good results for the Italian.
