As you can see in the tweet above, it looks like the Jack Eichel era in Buffalo is coming to an end and it could be happening very soon. According to Pierre LeBrun, trade talks for the Sabres captain are heating up. In his article with The Athletic, LeBrun listed that the Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers are the teams that make the most sense, among other teams as well.
It’s time to accept it Sabres fans. I hate doing this in my articles but I’m going to write this in fan mode again. This absolutely sucks, the fact Buffalo is close to trading their franchise player. Remember in 2015 when the Sabres drafted him and Pierre McGuire said, “The Buffalo Sabres have become a contender in the Eastern Conference”? Yeah that didn’t happen. I know they haven’t traded him yet but we all know it’s going to happen and it will be soon. I don’t blame Jack for being frustrated, Sabres management have done an awful job building around him. From coaching to getting players, the Sabres have failed to do that. What did it cost us? Losing a generational player who will most likely dominate the league because he’s on a better team.
So Long Captain Jack Eichel: Final Thoughts
My message to Kevyn Adams, do not mess this up. Buffalo shipped Taylor Hall to the Boston Bruins for free pretty much, no disrespect to Anders Bjork but I wasn’t happy with the return for Hall. He needs to do a great job in a deal. I’m sure he’ll get a first round pick but I would like to get a good young player and maybe two roster players. That might be asking a lot, but he needs to get a return that will make it easier to accept the fact Eichel won’t be a Sabre anymore. Don’t mess this up Adams, do everything you can to get a great return. So. long, captain Jack Eichel!
