Kyrie Irving Voices Concerns over Restarting the NBA Season

Mike’s Monday Mantra

“Much of life requires waiting, and we have a choice to do it happily or miserably.”
M.J. Ryan, The Power of Patience: How to Slow the Rush and Enjoy More Happiness, Success, and Peace of Mind Every Day

Patience is something I have made a point to work on every day. It’s something that I believe is the most important trait we can have. The reason for this quote this week is I am getting a puppy! I’m super excited. She is a Blue Heeler named Billie! She is eight weeks old, so I’m going to need a lot of patience. Learning it by helping my dog become a great family dog is the right way, I think.

The Woke Kyrie we needed

We have seen it all from Kyrie. From subliminal quotes about teammates to thinking the Earth is flat. Kyrie Irving has never held back and sometimes is too deep for us even to understand. This time he may be on to something. Kyrie led a call of about 80 players last week to discuss the potential restart of the season. He relayed to his colleagues that he believed it to be better if they cancel the entire season. He deemed it “fishy.” Former Celtic Avery Bradley also stated as a driving force in the conversation, along with a bunch of other big names such as CJ McCollum and Joel Embiid.

My Final Thoughts

This is the first time I agree with Kyrie Irving. There’s a quote in the article that says, “I’m not with the systematic racism and bullshit.” Now, as a white boy, my opinion means nothing. Truthfully. However, I think this sends a huge message. With the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Rayshard Brooks and the protest that are happening all over the country, this would only help. I can’t imagine anything that has happened like that before—the athletes of the league protesting by not playing a season. In my opinion, that would be a huge message in a country were viewership and business is king. Only time will tell.
