Report: New Rumor Says David Ortiz Shooting Tied in with Drug Lord
As many know by now, former all-star and Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz was shot in the Dominican Republic late last night. As soon as the news regarding Ortiz broke, prayers started to go up for the slugger who has become an icon in both the D.R. and the United States (Boston specifically).
So why did this happen? Reports continue to fly in at a rapid rate. Originally it was said that the shooting occurred during an attempted robbery, but the New York Post is now reporting that it may be in connection with a drug lord in the Dominican.
In the linked article, the post states that, “Authorities in the Dominican Republic believe David Ortiz was shot by two police officers hired by a drug lord who thought the former Red Sox slugger was having an affair with his wife”. The investigation is still ongoing, but three law enforcement officials have confirmed the motive to Daily Mail. Whether that is the case remains to be seen but the rumor has some serious backing. And even though the rumor has some real juice behind it, the main point of importance remains Ortiz’s health.
Number 34 is in stable condition, but he has a road to recovery as he rests after having parts of his intestines removed. So to Ortiz and his family: people are praying and wishing you a speedy recovery.
