Not so Fast, the NBA Might Not Come Back After All
It is crazy how much can change in just one week. Last week, NBA fans got the news that the 2019-2020 season will resume on July 31st in Orlando, Florida. However, after the league put out the remaining schedule, Kyrie Irving among with 80 other players, had a virtual call to discuss whether or not it was a good idea to return to play.
It wasn’t the news that NBA fans wanted to hear. Irving does not approve the idea of coming back. With the current circumstances that going on around the world, he does not feel right about the idea of playing again.
Final Thoughts
It is a tough situation for all players around the league. For example, LeBron James wants to play. This is about his legacy. The fact that his team, the Los Angeles Lakers, are real contenders at winning the NBA Championship plays a factor. However, what about those teams that are just hanging on and know that it is going to be a long shot to win the NBA Championship? We do not know what those player’s attitudes are towards coming back this season.
COVID-19 is a virus that no one wants to mess with. It is going to be a risk if the league does decide to come back. However, the league has new protocols for each and every day that will keep the players safe. This is whole situation is far from over as the league continues to expect a return and bring a conclusion to the 2019-2020 NBA season.
