Nick Diaz Making His UFC Return After a 5 Year Absence
After 5 long years the UFC finally announced Nick Diaz will be making his long awaited UFC return. UFC 235 Las Vegas Nevada Nick Diaz will be fighting Jorge Masvidal. When it comes to largest fan bases in the UFC McGregor fans are obviously number one, but the Diaz Brothers fans aren’t far behind. Nate was going to fight at UFC 230 but his opponent Dustin Poirier pulled out due to injury. Now it’s his brother Nick’s turn to make his return to the octagon. The last time we saw Nick Diaz fight was in 2015 at UFC 183 against Anderson Silva. Diaz lost in a decision but his taunting in the first round of the fight was legendary. After the fight Nick Diaz got flagged by USADA for a failed drug test. This resulted in a five year ban, not for preforming enhancing drugs but for marijuana. This caused an uproar, many fighters and fans thought the suspension was far too excessive. Even when the suspension was over the UFC made it sound like Nick Diaz wasn’t interested in fighting anymore, which is why the announcement of his return was so shocking. It’s hard to tell if Nick Diaz will be at the same level he was at in 2015. If Diaz hasn’t lost a step in his game we know exactly what to expect from him; high level boxing and jiu jitsu and unbelievable pressure and cardio. When you fight Nick Diaz you have no time to breath and if you can’t keep up with his pace you’re going to fade out and that’s when he’ll finish you.
Nick Diaz’s opponent Jorge Masvidal is no joke. If fans expect Diaz to run right through Masvidal they might be disappointed. Masvidal is the definition of a fighter. He got his start fighting in street fights and eventually went pro. Even though he’s on a two fight losing streak he’s still a very dangerous welterweight. One thing is guaranteed when this fight takes place, it’s guaranteed to be a high paced back and fourth brawl.
