NFL Sunday Standouts: Week Four

Just like that the first quarter of the NFL season comes to a close tonight. Week four was no stranger to seeing great performances around the NFL. Tonight will be no different of course as the Las Vegas Raiders visit the Los Angeles Chargers. However, it’s time. Let’s take a look at this week’s NFL Sunday standouts: week four.

Patrick Mahomes quarterback Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes had himself a day yesterday. When one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL goes up against a below average defense, nine out of ten times the quarterback will have a fantastic game. That’s exactly what happened in Philadelphia yesterday. Despite the final score being 42-30 in favor of the Chiefs, Mahomes torched this Eagles defense. Mahomes went 24-30, 278 passing yards, 5 touchdowns and 1 interception. Three of those touchdowns went to Tyreek Hill who also was having his way with the Eagles defense.

Buffalo Bills defense

That week one loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers was a fluke. The Bills as a team since then look like the same dominant Bills team from a year ago. Yesterday their defense pitched a shutout in Buffalo’s 40-0 win over the Houston Texans. They intercepted Davis Mills four times, and had three sacks. They also held Mills to under 100 passing yards. If they continue to play at this level, the Bills could run the table the rest of the season and could easily make it to the Super Bowl.

Cordarrelle Patterson running back Atlanta Falcons

Cordarrelle Patterson is becoming a problem for opposing defenses

Cordarrelle Patterson could not be stopped yesterday by the Washington Football Team. Unfortunately, the Atlanta Falcons did what they always do and lost. But, the loss shouldn’t take away from Patterson’s career day. On the ground, Patterson had six carries for 34 yards. That’s not the impressive part. He also had five receptions for 82 yards and three touchdowns. He also averaged 16.4 yards per reception. Washington had no answer for Patterson yesterday.

David Montgomery running back Chicago Bears

David Montgomery was a force to reckon with yesterday. The Bears overall actually looked like a football team and head coach Matt Nagy lives to see another week because of the performance from Montgomery. Before he went down with a knee injury, Montgomery had 23 carries for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Lions defense did not have an answer to slow down Montgomery yesterday.
