Morning Skate Update-NJ@BUF

The Buffalo Sabres will be facing the New Jersey Devils once again tonight. Buffalo defeated New Jersey 4-1 the other night and will look to win two in a row. During practice this morning, there were a couple of updates. In this article, I will let you know the details.

Jeff Skinner scratched again

Sabres' Jeff Skinner sits out second straight game as healthy scratch | Buffalo Hockey Beat

For the third consecutive game, Sabres forward Jeff Skinner will be a healthy scratch. Head coach Ralph Krueger said the other day this wasn’t a disciplinary issue. Skinner has been struggling this year. In 14 games played, he only has one point. Only a couple of years ago, he scored 40 goals. In my opinion, I don’t think Krueger is giving him a fair shot. Instead of playing him in the top six, for whatever reason, Krueger continues to play him in the bottom half of the lineup.

Jack Eichel didn’t practice but will play

According to multiple sources, Sabres captain Jack Eichel did not practice this morning. As you can imagine, Buffalo fans were greatly concerned. During the game a couple of nights ago, Eichel’s ankle got caught under the leg of a Devils player, leaving Buffalo’s captain in some pain. He was able to finish the game but it could’ve been possible the injury was still lingering with him. After practice though, Krueger said it was just a maintenance day for Jack and he will play tonight.

Update on Rasmus Ristolainen

The Sabres received some great news today. Defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen practiced for the first time after having a rough battle with COVID-19. Even though he won’t play tonight, it’s greats news seeing Rasmus practicing. According to Sabres reporter Paul Hamilton, Ristolainen said he’s not 100% yet but he feels really close and really good. We’ll see when he’ll play again but this is encouraging news.

Debut of the reverse retro’s

Sabres 'Reverse Retro' jerseys are on sale now

For the first time this season, Buffalo will be wearing their reverse retro jerseys. The team will wear them six times this season and I can’t wait to see what they look like on the ice.
