Kyrie or KD? A Question For Celtics’ Fans

I assume that most people have heard about what has been going on with Draymond Green, Kevin Durant, and the Golden State Warriors.

Is the dynasty in California ending? Possibly. Durant is headed for free agency after this season, and he seems primed to leave Steph Curry and Co. So now I pose a question to Celtics’ fans: would you rather sign Durant or Kyrie Irving this offseason?

It really is a tough decision. Celtics fans will go to their grave defending Mr. Irving (just like any of their players) but in all reality, Durant is on another level compared to Kyrie. Both great scorers, but Durant’s size makes him the most difficult guy to guard in the NBA. Add on the fact that Durant has remained relatively healthy compared to Irving, would the Celtics be dumb just trying to re-sign Kyrie? Maybe.

Think about this for a second. Instead of signing Irving, the C’s go out and get Durant after swinging and missing a couple years ago. Now with an influx of wings and lack of a starting point guard, general manager of the Celtic’s Danny Ainge re-signs restricted free agent Terry Rozier and trades a package headlined by Jaylen Brown to nab Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans. Granted I am talking out of nowhere right now, but what starting lineup would you rather have next season?

PG: Kyrie Irving*

SG: Jaylen Brown

SF: Gordon Hayward

PF: Jayson Tatum

C: Al Horford*

OR

PG: Terry Rozier**

SG: Gordon Hayward

SF: Kevin Durant*

PF: Jayson Tatum

C: Anthony Davis

(*free agent) (** Restricted Free Agent)

It’s just something to think about.
