Ja Morant Deserves The Love Zion Is Getting

Tonight, New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson set to make his NBA debut in a home matchup against the San Antonio Spurs. After sitting out the first part of the season with a knee injury, Williamson has the NBA landscape is on the edge of it’s seat in anticipation. The rookie has been a viral sensation for nearly three years due to his athletic ability, skying above every rim he came across.

Williamson does deserve the hype surrounding himself, but I feel it is foolish of NBA fans to get caught up in THIS rookie when Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has been a force all season. Morant, the no. 2 overall pick in the 2019 draft, has led the Griz to a 20-23 record through 43 games after they only won 22 last season. Talk about a jump.

Morant has made such a huge impact for a team most figured would be in the lottery for years to come. And I know that the league isn’t completely disregarding Morant’s performance, but the fact that Stephen A. Smith is sitting up on ESPN talking about how Williamson has the ability to catch Morant in the the rookie of the year race? Get out of here with that and give Morant some respect for making some insane plays in his own right.
