It’s Impossible To Go Against Brady
Last night, Tom Brady and the Bucs proved a lot of people wrong. They proved the NFL and fan bases wrong. But more importantly, they proved that one player can bring a winning culture to a program. Before Brady arrived, the Bucs were 7-9 and were one of the more up and down teams in the league. But once Brady decided to move on to Tampa Bay, the Bucs roster proved superior than the rest.
It was a no brainer Brady went to Tampa Bay. They were loaded with weapons and only added more once Brady committed. This year was very much a championship or bust. There was no way they could sacrifice a year of Brady that they might never get back. It’s simple, the Bucs have a two year window to win a championship and they already accomplished it. For the rest of his time in TB, he is playing with house money. He already achieved what he went down there to do.
As a Patriots fan, I was on the side against him: I’m not ashamed to say that either. I’m more of a Patriots fan than a Brady fan and I root for my team no matter what. But I will say that I was very happy watching him kick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ ass last night. It is without question that Mahomes played his worst game as a pro. Now I know he was “hurt” with a toe injury. An injury I didn’t know about, nor one that looked like it affected him against Buffalo. But Mahomes did the right thing in his presser after the game, he acknowledged that the toe had nothing to do with his performance. They just played bad and looked distracted.
But what kills me the most was my confidence in going against Tom Brady. This is the fucking GOAT. This was the six, now seven, time Super Bowl champion. But I got into my own head and said “there’s no way Bruce Arians can lead this team.” I said it all year and I stuck by it. Until I realized around midway through the second quarter that it didn’t matter who the coach was because they had the greatest leader in sports – Tom Brady. It is impossible to go against him. Not to mention, there couldn’t have been a more hated team than the Chiefs this year. They were just a bunch of scumbags and they deserved everything they had coming to them. Of course Brady was going to come out and have one of his better Super Bowl performances to beat them.
