Is Maroon 5 about to pay homage to Spongebob and finally give us the halftime show we deserve?

Every sane human has only wanted there to be one halftime show for well over a decade. We want Sweet Victory.

There are rumors on the twitter-verse that Maroon 5 will appease our ensatiable appetite. Here’s what we know.

1- There was a petition that garnered over 1.2 million signatures for this to happen.

2- Mercedes-Benz stadium tweeted a Gif of the iconic SpongeBob episode, in which the performance happened, back in December.

3- Local Atlanta reporter captured zoomed in photo of Mercedes-Benz stadium with images of the episode. I can not confirm, nor deny if these images have been altered in any way.

4- The creator of SpongeBob, Stephen Hillenburg, passed away in November. What better way to honor him than to cast one of his most iconic episodes into the national spotlight.

Listen, guys. I don’t know for sure if this is going to happen or not. It’s really looking like it might. Let’s be honest here, it kind of needs to for the NFL’s sake. I mean, Maroon 5? For the main act of the Super Bowl halftime show? That’s pretty bad Roger.

NFL needs it, we want it, Maroon 5, the ball is in your court.
