Irving For MVP
It is crazy how well the Celtics are playing thus far. The season is still young, but the Celtics are now winners of 9 straight games. Kyrie Irving is playing like he is one of the best players in the world and Horford seems to be back on his 2015 game. You can credit a little of Horford’s success to Baynes. Last year the Celtics did not have that center that could clog the middle up and Stevens had to rely on Horford to play in that role. Now that Baynes took over the big man role, Horford is now free to stretch the floor and play his game.
Irving is also playing like he is one of the best players in the world. He seems to be loving his new team and everyone in Boston is loving him. He is creating open shots for his teammates and he just knows when to take his shot. You could even make the case that Irving is up for an early MVP candidate. However, it is still way too early in the season to say that Cleveland made the wrong move. IT has not played yet, and the Cavs could be a totally different team with him as the point guard. Will they ever turn their losing ways around? We shall see as the season rolls on.
The smartest move that the Celtics made was getting rid of Jea Crowder. I was a fan of Crowder because he was a hustle player, but he has just been terrible so far this season. Horford has easily jumped into the PF position and is playing far better than Crowder ever played.
Now there are a few teams that I would like to see the Celtics play before I start really liking their chances. The Celtics go up against the Raptors this Sunday night, a team that they always seem to struggle against. The C’s also play the Warriors November 16th. These two games are going to be huge in measuring where the Celtics are at this season. The Celtics also have a nice little match up with the Lakers tomorrow night. I would love to see Tatum go to town on Lonzo Ball.
