Francisco Lindor Breaks Out with Big Game
Mets fans, myself included have been waiting for Francisco Lindor to start playing well. Lindor signed a massive 10 year $341 million contract the night before opening day. He set self-imposed deadline with the team to get a contract done before he would test free agency. Good thing he signed because up until recently he was struggling immensely. He was getting booed at Citi Field and fans were not happy on social media a well. However, he started hitting the ball a lot better over the past couple weeks and truly broke out this afternoon against the Nationals.
Today’s Performance
Today was a performance that Mets fans were expecting when we acquired Francisco Lindor from Cleveland. He was the source of the Mets offense today as he went 3-4 with two home runs and drove in all 5 of the Mets runs. He drove the ball all around the ballpark. One of his home runs went to left-center field and the other went to the upper deck in right field. He also tossed in a run scoring single when he roped a line drive over the second baseman’s head to score David Peterson. Lindor and Mets fans alike have been waiting for a game like this from Lindor.
"God works in mysterious ways," Francisco Lindor said when asked why today was the day he was able to break out. pic.twitter.com/Pjwk4aMghm

It has certainly been a mysterious season for the richest Met in history, but he is trending in the right direction and today may be the start of something special.
Final Thoughts
Lindor is crucial for the Mets success this season. With Michael Conforto, Jeff McNeil, and Brandon Nimmo out of the lineup, Lindor needed to be the guy. Up until recently, Lindor has not been the guy. His bat needs to be the center of the Mets lineup. Performing right away in New York is no easy task. Just ask Mike Piazza. He was booed when he first came to New York and didn’t perform right away. Lindor was bound to regress back to close to his normal performance levels. Today just happened to be the day that Lindor decided to breakout and play like the superstar player that he is being paid to be.
