Florida man traps ‘gator with trashcan
Just a few hours ago, I spotted a video on Twitter in which a Florida man captured an alligator in his recycling bin! From what I could gather, the video lasts less than a minute and happened right in front of the windows of an ordinary home. According to New York Post, the brave man in the video is Eugene Bozzi (26), a US Army Veteran. In my opinion, this was very quick thinking. Even though I am also from Florida, this blows my mind! I would not have thought to grab my trashcan.
Video Analysis
In the video, Bozzi separated himself from the large reptile using his recycling bin. I think the most humorous part of this was the reason for choosing a bin. When interviewed by the Post, his reasoning is as follows: “big enough to scare him into thinking that’s a mouth,” adding “cuz I watch a lot of ‘Animal Planet’ videos, and he’s going to think that I’m like a hippo or something.” Imagine the amount of strength it took to even lift the bin and ensure that the lid wasn’t lifted again!
Bozzi stated that the ‘gator wasn’t “too aggressive,” however, there were several audible hisses and thrashing from the animal before it entered the bin. Miraculously, the Florida resident suffered no injuries. I think this one beats the alligator that approached a Florida Woman while on her paddle board.
After performing some research, I was able to find a second video that shows Bozzi wheeling the gator to a safe location. It looks like he chose some nice bushes for the creature to escape into. Once the lid was lifted, the reptile did not attempt to make an escape. Instead, it simply walked away, and it’s tail disappeared into the bushes.

In conclusion
To conclude this article, Florida always amazes me. Personally, I give kudos to Bozzi for handling this situation in the most efficient way possible. I wouldn’t have known what to do with a large-hissing reptile in front of my home. Maybe I would call animal control if they catch ‘gators. Quick thinking!
