Fantasy Football Preview: Bills vs Dolphins
Its week 2 of fantasy football! This is the week where fantasy owners start looking for patterns of production or correct errors from week one. This week has some interesting NFL matchups Steelers vs Raiders, Rams vs Colts, Seahawks vs Titans, and many more. This article however is focused on one of the first Sunday matchups. This is my fantasy football preview of Bills vs Dolphins.
Fantasy Football Must Start
Josh Allen QB Bills
Josh Allen has been a preseason fantasy football QB that has been hyped. In some drafts he was the 2nd QB off the board and easily in the top 5. Allen had a tough week 1 against the Steelers where he only produced 17.2 fantasy points. But, in week 2 I believe Josh Allen bounces back to his top 5 QB mentality. In his career Josh Allen is 5-1 against the Dolphins. The stats for these games according to NFL.com he averages 315.3 pass and rush YPG, 2.8 pass TD per game, and a 114.3 passer rating. Last year week 2 he also played the Dolphins in Miami. His fantasy football points were 34.50 with 4 pass TD and 415 yards. Although I do not think he scores that many look to him to get at least 25 points this week.
Others to Consider Playing
Jaylen Waddle WR Dolphins
This rookie made his appearance known week 1 against the Patriots. Although he only had 5 targets, he caught 4 passes for 61 receiving yards and 1 TD. Also he ended week 1 as the 27th ranked receiver, which is good enough to be considered a WR 2. Depending if you are PPR or not he finished with 16.1 points in my 1 point PPR league. Look for him to continue building chemistry with Tua. This week I expect him to improve his ranking. He will be in the top 25 for WR’s and again produce a TD for the Dolphins. He might be worth putting as a WR 2 or Flex depending on your depth.
Bills D/ST
Bills defense had a shaky start against a tough opponent of the Steelers. They allowed the Steelers to produce 23 points and did not have many impressive plays against. Expect them to bounce back this week. Despite losing week 1 the Patriots defense produced 7 fantasy points against the Dolphins. Personally, I think this defense is better than the Patriots. They are angry on the loss week. Expect them to sack Tua at least once as well as force a turnover or two. I also doubt they allow as many points on the board. I have this defense ranked in my top 5 for the week. Although the matchup is away vs a home game they will be productive.
Avoid
Mike Gesicki TE Dolphins
As far as poor performances go Mike Gesicki takes the cake for week 1. He was a player who has been rostered and drafted in many leagues. But, if you have him I suggest you drop him, find a trade for a better TE or bench him if you have another TE. He was only target 3 times last week but how many of those did he catch? Zero passes for 0 points. Tua clearly has other targets such as Waddle and Fuller may make his debut week 2. I expect his productivity to stay similar this week against another tough opponent that is the Bills, but maybe he scores a couple points. He is not worth the start this week.
Last Thoughts on Players
Obviously, there are other players I have not highlighted in this Bills vs Dolphins matchup. Think of the trio of Bills receivers Diggs (start in WR 1 or WR 2), Samuels (Flex option) or Beasley (Flex option). As for the running game there is Bills RB option Singletary (RB 2 or Flex start), and Dolphins RB option Gaskin (RB 2 start).
The Dolphins have just beaten the Patriots so do not expect them to take it easy on the Bills, especially since they are at home. But, the Bills are coming off a tough loss and I do not believe they will lose two in a row. In fact the Bills have won 5 straight against the Dolphins and scored 30+ points in each game. My opinion on Bills vs Dolphins is Bills win and the offense sees some quality fantasy points this week.
