It is that time of the year folks, the time to start freaking out over fantasy football. Some will say it is still a little bit too early, but I say this is the best time to start. With rankings being put into place, and all the fun stuff in between; I thought I would share my five players that will strive with their new team in the 2021 fantasy football season. All players that are playing for a different team in 2021 is the demographic that I am hitting. With that being said here are my five fantasy football players that will strive with their new team.
5.) WR AJ Green (Arizona Cardinals)
The best thing A.J. Green did was leave the Cincinnati Bengals in my opinion. Now don’t get me wrong he has had his fair share of injuries over the past couple of seasons, but he needed a fresh start very badly. After being a Pro Bowler in his first seven seasons in the league, we saw Green’s stock take a giant hit the last three years.
He has played in 27 games in the last three seasons and has not been as good as he once was. I think with Kyler Murray throwing him the football, he is going to be a sneaky late round fantasy football pick. Watch out for AJ Green to become a top 20 wide receiver again in my opinion, because he could get a lot of looks as the number two wide receiver on the Cardinals.
4.) QB Sam Darnold (Carolina Panthers)
We have yet to see the best out of Sam Darnold in his short three year career in the NFL. He played for one of the worst teams in that span that I have ever seen. In 2019 Darnold had a 7-6 record and completed 62 percent of his passes as well. I have seen the potential in him, and now that he is out of New York we will see that. Darnold has so many better weapons to throw to as well.
McCaffrey, D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and Ian Thomas just to name a few. With the way that Matt Rhule’s offense is shaped up as, I think this is best case scenario for Darnold. Darnold will work his way at least in the top 15 of all fantasy football quarterbacks by the time the season is over in my opinion.
3.) QB Carson Wentz (Indianapolis Colts)
Carson Wentz was about to win an MVP just a few seasons back before picking up an injury that would alter his career. In 2019, Wentz threw for over 4,000 passing yards for the first time in his career. He had some issues last season, but he was not there mentally. Now with a fresh start in Indianapolis, I think we see Carson Wentz become a top ten fantasy quarterback again.
His targets now are a lot better than what he had last season with Philadelphia. He is also going to be surrounded by one of the best offensive lines in the league as well. The Colts will also have a running game in Jonathan Taylor, Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines. This works out for Wentz because I think we will see him eclipse over 30 passing touchdowns in his first season with the Colts. Watch out for Carson Wentz because he is going to show why last season was a fluke.
2.) WR Julio Jones (Tennessee Titans)
I have spoken about how good I believe Julio Jones is going to be in my NFL Top 100 list, which if you haven’t check out already you most definitely should. Julio Jones having not only Derrick Henry, but also A.J. Brown on the same offense is going to be insane. Jones has been a beast his entire NFL career for the Falcons. Now he will make an immediate impact for the Titans.
Jones in my opinion is always a top five fantasy football wide receiver no matter the situation. This year I think he is easily in my top three and it is not even close. Julio is going to absolutely kill it with this stacked Titans offense and if you have a chance to grab Julio at any point in the draft you should take him and don’t even second guess yourself.
1.) QB Matthew Stafford (Los Angeles Rams)
Matthew Stafford is going to have one of the best years in his entire NFL career. This is also a guy that in every year that he has played in all 16 games he has passed for over 3,700 yards in a single season. We have seen what Stafford can do with star receivers. Now he has two in Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. Stafford is going to be apart of a playoff caliber team for the first time in a long time.
I have Stafford very high up on all of my draft boards no matter the style of the league. Stafford is going to finish the 2021 fantasy football season as a top five fantasy football quarterback. Mark my words you will regret the day that you did not draft Matthew Stafford in your fantasy football draft.
