Do or Die, Golden Knights vs Avalanche Stanley Cup Playoffs Recap

Series Recap

Colorado Avalanche vs. Vegas Golden Knights Game 3 Prediction 6/4/21

Many think whoever comes out of this round victorious will go to the cup and possibly win it all. Why? Because these two teams are power houses and their goalies are playing incredible. Both Fleury and Grubauer are finalists for the Vezina trophy. This series has proven to be a good one, besides game 1.

Game 1: Golden Knights 1, Avalanche 7

Yes you see that score right. Game 1 was an absolute blow out in the favor of the Avalanche. This was not the Golden Knights team most people expected. Lehner started in goal for the Golden Knights and was not playing at his usual level. The Avalanche had 37 shots on goal throughout the game, with 2 goals in the first, 4 goals in the second and 1 final one in the 3rd. Resting for a week allowed the Avalanche to come out with that high power, fast paced offense. Not resting proved to show the Golden Knights playing slow paced and only getting 25 shots on goal. Only 1 goal was scored in the 2nd, but at this point the game was already out of reach.

Game 2: Golden Knights 2, Avalanche 3 OT

Playing in Ball Arena turned out to be a tough task. In fact, the Avalanche have not lost in this arena since April 27th ironically against the Golden Knights. Including this Game 2 win that is 13 straight wins at home. In the 1st period the Golden Knights gave up 4 penalties which resulted in 2 Avalanche goals. Beginning the 2nd period the game was at 2-1 Avalanche. But something connected for the Golden Knights and they came back to tie the game 2-2. Much of the 3rd period was dominated by the goal post and Grubauer. Save after save happened as the Golden Knights tallied up 41 shots on goal for the game. The game ended up going into OT and ended in 2 minutes and 7 seconds with a shot by Rantanen. Avalanche take game 2 despite the Golden Knights playing better.

Game 3: Golden Knights 3, Avalanche 2

The series transitioned over the T-Mobile Arena for 2 games. Great news for the Golden Knights as they were able to play for a full capacity stadium! The fans really played a part in this win as the stadium was LOUD. No goals were scored in the 1st by either team. However in the second both teams scored 1 goal each. The 3rd period was the key for the Golden Knights. They scored 2 goals 45 seconds apart from each other to take the lead and win this game. This as the first game the Avalanche have lost in the playoffs. Golden Knights now have life in them with this win!

Game 4

Neither Fleury or Grubauer are letting up their game. It will continue to be a battle of the goalies for this series. The key for the Golden Knights will be accuracy in shots. They are coming out with a lot of shots on goal these last two games, but not many are going in. The Avalanche are hanging in there with their fast paced offense and higher accuracy in goals scored. The key for the Avalanche will be defense, if they can reduce the Golden Knights shots on goal they will have the advantage.

Tonight the Vegas Golden Knights and the Colorado Avalanche square off in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Playoff Series. Right now the Avalanche are up 2-1 in the series. However, at 8:30ET the Golden Knights have a chance to tie up the series 2-2, or they will go down 3-1.
