Dana White Announces He Is In The Process of Making Two Huge Fights For UFC 227

UFC president Dana White announced he is trying to put together two huge fights for UFC 227. The main event is already a highly anticipated rematch between current 135 pound champ TJ Dilishaw, and former 135 pound champ Cody Garbrant. The two originally fought each other at UFC 217. It was a highly anticipated fight and it was a long time in the making. In their first matchup Dilishaw knocked Garbrant out in round 2, which made Dilishaw a 2 time world champion. This rematch is ones fans are excited to see, but Dana White announced he is trying to put together two more fights that would make this card a must buy.

Gustafsson vs Rockhold: It’s no secret that Rockhold wants to move up to light heavyweight. He has said multiple times that the weight cut down to 185 has been brutal on his body, and that the weight cut has been affecting his performs in the octagon. Gustafsson and Rockhold have gone back and forth on Twitter, and it looks like Luke Rockhold’s first fight at light heavyweight will be against number 1 ranked light heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson. Rockhold is coming off a loss to Yoel Romero. Gustafsson is coming off a win against Glover Teixeria. This would be a big fight, but it’s the other fight Dana is trying to put together that is making MMA fans go crazy.

Nate Diaz vs GSP: It’s been a while since UFC fans have seen Nate Diaz in an octagon. The last time was all the way back at UFC 202, when Diaz lost to Conor Mcgregor in a fight of the year candidate. That night Diaz showed that he has star power in the UFC, and when he’s on a card fans are going to want to buy the pay per view. Since Mcgregor will most likely be fighting Khabib next, there aren’t many fighters that Nate would be interested in fighting. So if Mcgregor is not going to be available for a while who is the next big name? George St. Pierre! GSP last fought at UFC 217 where he beat Michael Bisping for the middleweight championship. GSP vacated the belt a couple weeks after, due to health problems. This fight between GSP and Nate Diaz would be huge, and it’d be the second time GSP has fought one of the Diaz brothers. GSP took on Nick Diaz at UFC 158, the build up for the fight was huge and GSP got his hand raised at the end via decision. The fight between Nate Diaz and GSP would be at 155 pounds. Since the fight is at 155 pounds it poses the question, if Mcgregor retains against Khabib will this set up another huge fight? If this fight between Diaz and GSP happens, it could set up Diaz vs Mcgregor 3, or it could set up Mcgregor vs GSP, which would be the biggest UFC fight in history.
