The Red Sox Need to Address the David Price Issue Soon
A 2-4 record, 5.11 era, 1.405 whip, these are the stats of a $217 million pitcher. In his last 5 starts, the Red Sox are 1-4, he has an impressive 8.22 era and has allowed 4 home runs. If you haven’t figured it out by now, David Price is STRUGGLING. Many people are ready to give up on the David Price experiment. So why don’t they?
Sorry, We’re Stuck With David Price
Nothing would be more pleasing than to see the Red Sox somehow get rid of David Price. Of course, Price does have a player option after this season. It would be wise of him to turn it down if he wants to fix his image as a dominant pitcher. If he does decide to accept it, he’ll continue making millions while barely doing anything. And good luck trying to trade him. You’d be asking a lot of a team to eat a portion of that contract. So now what? There has been very little indication as to what he’ll do regarding his player option. There has been absolutely zero trade talk of him, so now what?

The Fix For David Price
The only thing we can do for him is the one thing we don’t want to do. Root for him. It’s obvious that Boston fans don’t like him and he doesn’t like them in return. So why not root for him? Clearly booing him and talking bad isn’t working so give him what he wants. Support.
He’s a good pitcher. When he’s on, man is he impressive. He’s got elite stuff, this is no surprise. He just needs to work on his mentality. The more bad talk he hears, the worse he performs, yet that’s all Boston does. Yes, I get it that’s what Boston does, but if you want to see a good David Price, you better starting rooting for him. Don’t need to be the #1 fan but if you can start believing in him, maybe, just maybe, he’ll start to perform.
He’s most likely not going to be in a Boston uniform for long. And when he’s pitching for another team, go and boo him all you want. But for now, let’s see what he can do if we can support him a bit.
