Chris Sale throws first bullpen yesterday

Red Sox fans have been waiting to see Chris Sale actually throw a bullpen to see if he’ll be ready to rejoin the team soon. Well, Chris Sale threw his first bullpen yesterday afternoon at Fenway Park!

We’ve had updates since February about Sale’s status. So what does this bullpen session mean for Sale and the Sox moving forward?

Chris Sale Throwing a Bullpen Yesterday Means He’s Closer to Returning Than We Think

Sale is close. No really, he is! I mean, listen to the sound of the catcher’s mitt when Sale throws his pitches. It sounds like a guy that is ready to come in and contribute. Chris Sale makes the Red Sox better. He’d make any other team in the MLB better, we all know this. So if Sale is throwing a bullpen and looking pretty good doing so, then he’s definitely close to appearing in an actual game for the Red Sox. Plus, he said he’s never felt better than he did throwing that bullpen…for quite some time.

Chris Sale Throwing a First Bullpen Yesterday Means The Sox Will Continue to Contend

The Red Sox currently sit at 39-25 as this is being written. Chris Sale will help the Red Sox down the stretch. Whether it’s in the bullpen or in the starting rotation, Sale will be a big factor for this Red Sox team. In the bullpen, Sale could be the steady lefty the Red Sox need late in games. As a starter, we know what he can bring. A strikeout pitcher that misses a ton of bats with his fastball-slider combination.

In Conclusion

It’s a good first step. Sale being on a mound should have Red Sox fans excited. He’s a vital part of their whole pitching staff and will be key down the stretch when fighting for playoffs or dare I say…an A.L. East title? Get me Sale back on the mound in a regular season game ASAP!
